On the Shelf 6/26/13
In light of my recent inability to accomplish as much blogging as I'd hoped, I'm introducing a new feature, "On the Shelf", in which I'll offer updates on my progress and report on upcoming posts. I'm trying to get the blog on a regular tri-weekly updating schedule, but since my own schedule is currently anything but regular, I've not had much success. That said, I've outlined the next three posts, so here's what's on the horizon:
I begin (and hopefully finish) drawing Illustrated Bibliophile #2 later this afternoon after I've spent sufficient time laboring in the basement to be deemed a productive member of the household. Unless the comic takes a surprising turn between now and inking the lines, it will be about Etiquette and Espionage.*
Originally the next review was to be Brian Sanderson's Elantris, but I just finished Carriger's Soulless, the first book in her Parasol Protectorate series, and would like to juxtapose my review of Soulless against that of Etiquette and Espionage.
On a related note, I think it's about time I wrote an editorial on my oft-cited hatred of romance novels. Whether this editorial will appear before or after my review of Elantris (if it appears at all, which is far from certain), remains unclear.
It is also my goal to get at least one rec list completed for The Stacks within the next week.
...Wish me luck, cleaning the basement has turned into a bigger project than expected. I suspect it would go faster if I didn't keep getting distracted by the discovery of books from my childhood and possibly accidentally rereading them while boxes fall on my head.
*Not out of the realm of possibility.
